CONGRATULATIONS TO MIKE RILEY - "ANGLER OF THE YEAR '2002"
This year was another exciting year as Mike Riley, came into his own, and walked away with the title of "ANGLER OF THE YEAR '2002". Mike attributes his success to lots of Pre-Fishing and "Deadsticking" tube baits. Mike won 3 out of the 6 Tournaments and took second place 2 out of the remaining 3 tournaments that he didn't win. Mike was definitely in a 'zone' this year and no-one could knock him from the top spot. His final weigh-in from his Best 4 tournaments was 42.17lbs. Riley is looking forward to a repeat in the '2003 season.

Contraversial Decision for LUNKER of the YEAR !!
This year was another exciting year with a contraversial decision for Lunker which forced a new club rule. Mike Riley caught a 6.34lb Largemouth at Santuit Pond. At weigh-in, unfortunately, the Bass did not survive and was labeled DEAD. Due to B.A.S.S. rules, a dead fish cannot be entered for Lunker. It is automatically excluded. We, at Interstate Bass Masters, have never run into that situation. B.A.S.S. rules and Club rules state that you lose .25lbs per dead fish on your 'Total Weigh-in'. Riley was allowed to enter the fish for Lunker but with a .25lb deduction. This brought his total weight to 6.09lbs and not enough to beat Len Gaudette's Largemouth at 6.16lbs. Lenny was awarded the Lunker of the Tournament and Lunker of the Year awards. A new rule will be voted upon by the club for the '2003 season to assure this doesn't happen again. "The biggest fish is still the biggest fish, Dead or Alive" cried Riley.
